I’m an Entomology Ph.D. student at the University of California Riverside in the Yamanaka Lab. I use fruit flies to study the effects of hormones on insect development. My particular hormone of interest, juvenile hormone, keeps insects from becoming adults! We are trying to figure out how this hormone communicates and how we can use this hormone to control insect development and behavior. In my spare time, I care for my >20 houseplants, relax with my stern black cat, paint/draw bugs, and practice yoga!
